Michael Merriman is a veteran director and producer with extensive commercial, music video and documentary experience. Merriman has directed over 200 music videos to date, for artists such as Brooks & Dunn, Travis Tritt, June Carter Cash, Marty Stuart, Toby Keith and Trace Adkins.
Merriman's music videos have have been nominated for "Music Video Of The Year" by the Country Music Association and The Academy of Country Music six times. He was awarded "Music Video Of The Year" in 2002, for Brooks & Dunn's "Only In America".
In 2002, Merriman was also nominated in six categories for Country Music Television's video awards show, including video of the year for Travis Tritt's "Modern Day Bonnie & Clyde" starring Billy Bob Thornton. He also received a director of the year nomination, which he had previously been awarded.
Merriman's commercial work has received a host of awards and includes spots and campaigns for Toyota, Tide, Saturn and NCAA Basketball, to name a few.
He has produced and directed various PBS documentary projects, including "The Art of The Tretyakov, from Moscow", "He Touched Me, the gospel music of Elvis Presley", "Kindred Spirits, honoring the songs of Johnny Cash" and "Elvis Lives" featuring a "live" concert performance of Elvis' famous bandmates, backup singers and orchestra with a "virtual" Elvis.
Born in Coco Beach, Florida, Michael was trained in college as a painter. After several years as a creative director in various advertising agencies, he began directing commercials in the early 90's. Merriman currently resides in New Mexico and maintains offices there and in Nashville.
